Green Fairy: wormwood / artemisia hydrosol
Green Fairy: wormwood / artemisia hydrosol
From my garden for rituals and skincare
Aromatics + Usage
Wormwood, Artemesia, Armoise - the scent is fresh, cool, diffusive, bittersweet and green. The plant and essential oils have been used as a nervine, calming the nervous system. In witch-work the herb is associated with enhancing clairvoyance, banishment, divination and protection.
Why 'Green Fairy'?
So called 'the green fairy' because varieties of artemisia have been used to flavor alcoholic beverages like Absinthe. This potent elixir got a bad rap due to the content of thujone which can produce psychoactive reactions when consumed.
This bouf is made from wormwood grown in my garden and has a sweet, anisic, fennel-like herbal aroma, which I love. The herb has been used in perfumery as armoise' and features in light 'masculine' fragrances especially when combined with bergamot.
Absinthe wiki
This is a distillate water with trace amounts of wormwood essential oil suspended in the matrix.
External use only, a patch test is a good idea.
House Made Floral Waters:
The Alchemy distillations are crafted from neighborhood gardens. The wormwood and clary sage are grown exclusively in my garden without pesticides. Hydrosols are distilled by Alchemy in a copper alembic for you to use in your rituals and skincare routine.
Seasonally available
What are Hydrosols?
The art of distilling for hydrosols is slow and gentle, preserving as much of the plant’s volatile compounds possible. Herbalists and aromatherapists consider the hydrolate to be ‘living’ plant medicine.
