Ingredient Spotlight: Plum Oil
Plum oil has a myriad of benefits that support healthy skin.
Plum oil’s tiny molecules are easily absorbed and protect the skin against free radical damage, and oxidative stress. It aids in cellular repair, plumps and brightens skin.
Plums are heart-healthy and packed with B vitamins, potassium and magnesium, they are delicious fresh or dried. And any follower of Alchemy will know, we have a love for skincare which is also food. And we consider it a bonus when the raw ingredient is minimally processed.
To harvest the oil, the hard stone inside the fruit is cracked open and the little almond inside is removed and pressed. The cold pressed oil is then decanted, filtered and bottled.
Considered hydrating, the oil pulls and holds moisture into the layers of your skin, plumping it up. The oil is full of omega fatty acids and anit-oxidant Vitamins A and E. The high concentrations of Vitamin E are restorative, helping to repair damage due to minor injuries to the skin. And the high levels of Vitamin A aid in cellular turnover which minimizes the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles for a smoother, more evenly toned complexion
In general, plum oil is tolerated by all skin conditions, which is why it was selected as a key ingredient in the formula of our new cleanser (coming soon). While sweet almond oil is nearly aroma-free, the pressed oil of the plum kernel smells of almonds or marzipan.
